Palmeraie Biskra

Biskra – la Reine de Ziban – is located on the edge of the Sahara and is a place full of historical character; a paradise visited by many famous people, including Sidi Okba, La Kahina, Karl Marx, Oscar Wilde, Anatole France, and André Gide. In a palm grove south of the city a new urban development project will be combined with a profit-oriented restructuring of the plantations and a multifunctional recreational concept (wellness and a water park). The Ziban (irrigation channels) have served as inspiration for the development of both new and traditional channels.  The combination of agriculture and recreational use has made the complex preservation of the existing groves of palm trees possible.
