Hanover | EXPO 2000 Sluices

Sluices

During the heady atmosphere of the World’s Fair the Gardens in Transition provided space to relax in. Separated by free-standing walls, the ‘sluices,’ or open rooms, are integrated in the ‘river’ of the garden and serve as places of rest and contemplation. Their niches offer one or two people a small retreat. The overall spatial concept offers visitors three levels of seclusion, three levels of rest and contemplation: The Gardens in Transition, the sluices, and the niches.
