Ornaments at Hermesplatz and the Messepark

An ornament in the pavement at Hermesplatz serves as a reference to the water basin designed by Dieter Kienast at this location for the World Exposition The pattern lends structure to the surface of the area, which has been open since the removal of the basin.

Planting beds in the southern section of the trade fair grounds (Messepark Süd) consist of bulbs that bloom in the spring and fall, showing how ornamentation that changes with the seasons is one way of giving a space its own identity.
