Spreebogen

In addition to a classical open space concept that preserves the character of the Tiergarten, i.e. a grove of trees at the plaza between the Federal Chancellery and the Paul-Löbe-Haus that extends the Band des Bundes (a ribbon of federal government buildings) and subtle grading within the actual Spreebogen itself, we also proposed that a Vista House be built between the House of World Cultures and the Reichstag. This open pavilion would fit into the local context as a place of assembly (a ‘speakers’ corner’ offering cultural events, etc.), as a meeting place where space is created for social dialogue and contact between individuals and groups outside the parliament.
